After years of producing traditional T-shirts and looking for ways to reframe the scraps through donations and upcycling actions, the inventor of the methodology and founder of no.wasTee - Fabiana Muranaka, understood that she wasn't solving the problem of waste but rather changing it by making donations. In 2019, she began her journey of experimenting and studying zero-waste design until she came up with a reinterpretation of the most worn models on the planet using straight and oblique patterns. In 2022, she became the winner of the Ikea Foundation's Green Concept Awards 2022 in the category of sustainable concept for children.
From the singular to the plural, no.wasTee, which was born out of the ambition of a T-shirt designer to increase positive impact, is today a startup made up of diverse women who are very dedicated to fashion, innovation and positive impact. We still have a long journey of research and development to deliver more and more design solutions and industrial processes that result in less pollution and a lot of people wearing clothes! We are a team of creatives, technicians and innovators “inventing fashion” on a daily basis, so that our creative, technical and innovative users develop phenomenal clothes from the zero-waste design bases we have developed. Oh, and we love seeing the results of your creations: we're always delighted!
Since then, the solution has developed into a startup, with the agility and technology to share the results of its design and industrial process discoveries with other companies. A seemingly simple solution, but one that earned them a patent, given its innovative nature, requiring in-depth knowledge of ergonomics and wearability combined with a rigorous plan to make almost complete use of raw materials.
