From small businesses have emerged several innovative solutions for different areas. Many entrepreneurs have adopted, for example, business models that prioritize sustainability, a sector in growing demand.
This is the case of the Curitiba entrepreneur Fabiana Muranaka, designer founder and CEO of no.wasTee ("t-shirt without waste"). Realizing the problem of material disposal faced by her small business of t-shirt making, she created a new method focusing on the almost total utilization of raw materials.
The modeling technique is based on straight geometric shapes, different from the system of cuts with collars and sleeves. In this way, it better uses the full potential of fabric rolls. The utilization went from 80% to 97%, which represents a 14% increase in industrial performance.
"Only this difference in the amount of waste that will not be generated and will not end up in a landfill and the 85% reduction in the carbon footprint of each shirt are very significant for the industry," says Fabiana.
Innovation is a trademark of these companies in Brazil, which has generated a new business front: startups, such as the one created by Fabiana. In 2016, according to Sebrae, there was only one federal law that dealt with the subject. In 2024, it is already 24. Not counting state and municipal regulations: in Paraná alone, there are now 179 laws on startups - most of them created just last year.
With the favorable and expanding scenario, entrepreneurs have to be aware of the laws and regulations in the sector, as well as the changes foreseen by the tax reform, the details of which are being discussed by the National Congress.
